Corporate Social Responsibility

Overview

The outstanding quality of our UK Top 200 law firm, staff and service levels, is underlined by our market leading ISO quality assurance accreditations, industry awards and peer ranking.

We understand our activities have an impact on the environment, both locally and in the wider community, not least because it impacts on our organisation and the lives of our staff and their families.
Everyone takes their role in the community seriously.

Compliance

Compliance with this policy will be monitored and subject to review by the management board.

Sustainability commitments

Succeeding sustainably is about having a model that allows you to be sustainably successful whilst fulfilling the requirements of your clients and meeting their expectations.
In addition, fulfilling other criteria, like having high standards for environmental and sustainability performance together with having good staff welfare practices.

Colleagues

We are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all members of staff.

We constantly strive to create a diverse workforce, recruiting, developing and promoting employees based solely on the basis of objective criteria and talent.

We are signatories to the Law Society’s Inclusion and Diversity Charter.

Community

We actively organise events to raise money for several charities within our community.

We actively encourage staff members to participate in community projects and groups. We have many who are school governors and members who serve on various charity committees.

We have a nominated charity – Newlife.

We have developed the Inspire & Ignite and Create & Connect initiatives alongside the University of Derby.

Inspire & Ignite is aimed at supporting students to achieve their goals by providing support and experience in the world of business, a platform to pitch ideas and financial and mentoring opportunities.

Create & Connect helps Derby’s entrepreneurs get their businesses off to a good start by creating opportunities to connect with leading professionals to help them thrive and succeed.

Environment

We attained the ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Standard in September 2011.

Our Environmental Policy is a statement about our commitment to ensure that everyone in the business is aware of how our activities and services impact upon the environment and how we can reduce our environmental impact.

Each of us can help to to limit our use of and conserve energy by taking part in energy efficiency schemes.

Best practice applied to the management and disposal of waste that we create has major environmental benefits.

It is part of our training programme to ensure that this policy statement is briefed, understood and implemented at all levels within the organisation.

Our policy will be reviewed annually to ensure that it continues to allow us to meet our performance objectives.

Clients

We provide our clients with clear professional advice and information, led by experience.

Over 70% of our Partners are recommended by The Legal 500 and several have achieved the Chambers and Partners’ ‘Leader in their Field’ status.
