The Christmas and New Year break is fast approaching. It is time to check your Licence to make sure that you are covered to do what you want to do. Most Licences should contain an extension for all licensable activities on New Year’s Eve so that you can trade right through to the commencement of normal activities on New Years Day however not all do and it is worth checking. If you want to extend your hours beyond those within your Licence remember that you will have to apply for a temporary event notice. For the first time this year you can apply for a late TEN on five clear working days notice but if the Police or Environmental Health object the late TEN will automatically be refused.
If you think your application is going to be controversial then you should apply for a standard TEN giving ten clear working days notice.
The rules regarding the duration of a temporary event notice have also changed and they can now last for up to 168 hours and the premises can now benefit from a TEN for up to 21 days per year.
