Flint Bishop’s Licensing, Family Law, Construction Law, Real Estate and Litigation departments have all been ranked in the UK guide. The firm’s Real Estate department has earned praise as one client says: “We have always received an excellent service – they are big enough to have the professional expertise to assist, but not so large that we are just a number to them. They know our business almost as well as we do.”
A significant highlight this year is the increase in the number of individuals within the firm who have been recognised as ‘Leaders in their Field’.
Senior Partner, Andrew Cochrane ranked in The Regions for Licensing received the following comments: “Andrew draws particular praise for his level-headed approach”, with another source commenting “He is always so measured, methodical and organised, he does everything so smoothly.”

He gives careful consideration to the matter before decisions are made and he is highly committed.”
Litigation Partner, Nick Wells and Partner and Head of Construction, Andrew Perry have both been recognised as ‘Up and Coming Lawyers’ this year.
Chambers and Partners comment: “Nick Wells assists with contractual and commercial disputes. He is very commercial in his approach, very able, thorough and good at mastering the law and the details.” Andrew received the following comments: “Andrew is experienced in a wide array of contentious and non-contentious construction and procurement matters. He provides transactional and contract advice relating to major developments in the educational, leisure and transportation sectors and also handles complex disputes work.”
Kirpal Bidmead, Partner & Head of Family Law has been recognised in ‘Derby and Surrounds’ in the Family/Matrimonial category. Chambers and Partners comment: “Kirpal earns praise for her ‘sensible and reasonable’ approach. She focuses her practice on financial provision issues, and is noted for her expertise in locating undisclosed assets and the forensic analysis of accounts.”
This year also saw Flint Bishop ranked as ‘Band 1’ in the Derby and Surrounding areas for Private Wealth Law in the High Net Worth guide. The Wills, Probate, Tax and Trusts team has been described as: “particularly approachable and professional in every aspect” says an interviewee for the Chambers and Partners. The team handles a notable number of high-value estate administration matters, as well as will drafting and tax planning.
Claire Rudkin, Head of the Wills, Probate, Tax and Trusts has been recognised as a ‘Ranked Lawyer’ also in the Private Wealth Category. Claire handles trust and inheritance tax planning and estate administration matters. “She’s got quite a big team, they do a real breadth of private client work” reports a source, adding: “Claire is really good and really technically competent. Claire would be the one I’d pick up the phone to and refer to in Derby, especially if it were trusts.”
Qamer Ghafoor comments on the firm’s achievement;
“This year’s Chambers and Partners rankings, coupled with such positive comments from our client base, are representative of all the hard work our commercial and private client teams achieve on a daily basis.
I am also pleased for all my colleagues who have been highly regarded and recognised as ‘Leaders in their Field’. This provides reassurance to our clients that they are dealing with industry leading professionals who are both experienced and passionate about the work they do.”
