Flint Bishop Solicitors are holding their very own Bake Off to support the Macmillan Coffee Morning with the help of University of Derby Students.

On Friday 29th September 2017, the Macmillan Coffee Morning is returning for another year. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s largest fundraising event with people and companies all over the UK hosting their own Coffee Mornings with donations on the day being made to Macmillan to help people all over the UK living with cancer. The first Coffee Morning happened in 1990 and since then has raised over £165.5 million for Macmillan.

Flint Bishop Solicitors are hosting their own bake off to raise money for Macmillan where staff members can bake either a ‘savoury technical challenge’ or a ‘sweet show stopper’, selecting the categories from The Bake Off which has returned to our screens on Channel 4.

Flint Bishop are always aiming to encourage the future generation with their ventures, therefore students from the University along with Employer Engagement Lead, Bev Crighton will be judging the staff’s creations and awarding the winners with personalised trophies and Lakeland vouchers.

Andrew Cochrane, Senior Partner comments: “I am very pleased that we have been able to support Macmillan again this year with the help of University of Derby Students. We have supported Macmillan for the last four years with our coffee mornings and we plan to continue this into the future”.

Bev Crighton added: “I was thrilled when Flint Bishop asked the University if students could get involved with its Bake Off to raise funds for Macmillan. The University’s College of Business, Law and Social Sciences already works closely with Flint Bishop to support them with internships, our Network of Entrepreneurs and a whole host of other events, so judging the winner for this great cause was just the icing on the cake!”

As part of the Bake Off Competition, Staff will have the opportunity to take on an ‘all you can eat’ cake option for a simple £5 donation to Macmillan.

In Derbyshire alone, 16 people a day receive a cancer diagnosis and by the year 2030, it is expected that 70,000 people will be living with cancer. That figure is enough to fill Pride Park Stadium – twice. The funds generated by Flint Bishop are restricted for use in Derbyshire and as a firm that values its local community, Flint Bishop wishes to support Macmillan to ensure that nobody in Derbyshire will have to face cancer alone.
