The Government has today, 24 March 2014, announced the results of the consultation which it launched last year into the abolition of Personal Licences. The consultation ran between September and November.

The Government has confirmed that having reviewed the responses to the consultation there was very little support for its proposal and therefore it does not plan to continue the proposal going forward.

The Government has however confirmed that it will be continuing to implement the measure announced last year to abolish the requirement to renew Personal Licences every ten years. This measure is currently contained within the Deregulation Bill before Parliament.
