Late Night Levy: Cheltenham

cheltenham late night levy

The Council have now commenced the consultation process requesting comments from stakeholders as to whether the Late Night Levy should cease to have an effect in Cheltenham.

The Late Night Levy was introduced in Cheltenham in 2014 for late night venues operating between midnight and 6 am. The Council has now adopted a Business Improvement District, which has resulted in many licenses being subjected to both Levies.

It seems that the suggestion has been made that the Business Improvement District should supersede the Levy, based upon the fact that the bid income will be substantially more than the income raised through the Levy and the Authority want to ensure businesses are not unduly burdened by two Levies.

Following consultation, should the Late Night Levy cease to have the effect, the Levy will end on 31 March 2017.
