The end of open tobacco displays

open tobacco displays

The tobacco displays rule will come in on 06 April and after that, all newsagents, pubs, clubs and shops will have to remove open tobacco displays as part of the Government’s strategy to reduce the number of smokers.

Smokers will continue to be able to buy their cigarettes and tobacco, the new rules will not limit availability.

Health Minister Anne Milton said;

“Banning displays of cigarettes and tobacco will help young people resist the pressure to start smoking and help the thousands of adults in England who are currently trying to quit.”

Those selling tobacco products should seek the advice of their Trading Standards Officer to ensure they are complying with the legislation and covering their tobacco displays.
