It has been confirmed that pub Licensing hours across England and Wales will be extended to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Pubs which are Licensed to trade until 23:00, will be allowed to open until 01:00 on Saturday 11 June and until 01:00 on Sunday 12 June.
On-Licensed premises will be able to extend whatever Licensable activities they are permitted until 23:00 until the later hours. The extension of hours will not, however, apply to Off sales or late night takeaways.
Past national celebrations where the Government has extended Licensing hours have included the Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and also the 2014 World Cup. On those occasions, the celebrations resulted in a massive boost to the pub sector and it is hoped that the same will be true of the Queen’s birthday.
