We are looking for an experienced sales representative/business development manager within the professional services sector to work with our Commercial, Licensing, Property, Corporate & Finance and Dispute Resolution teams.

This role reports to the Head of Commercial on a day-to-day basis with an overall reporting line to Qamer Ghafoor (Chief Executive).

This role will focus on using relationship-based sales techniques to secure new clients and further work from existing clients of the firm.

You will be largely office-based at our headquarters in Derby and work predominantly with the departmental heads. The full breadth of consultative selling will be required in this role, including making cold-calls, being involved in pitches and tenders, and managing client relationships on an ongoing basis.

You will be expected to:

  • Fully understand the full-service offering of the departments that you work with.
  • Research and identify appropriate new business opportunities, including using online research and maximising potential from existing clients of the firm.
  • Identify key targets for potential future business using market knowledge and competitor and client activity monitoring.
  • Prioritise targets for cold and warm approaches according to the scope agreed with the relevant head of department.
  • Map out the agreed approach to current and potential clients alongside the head of department and other lawyers.
  • Update the CRM system with all activities and continuously monitor the sales pipeline.
  • Win new business, either directly or through partners of the firm.
  • Work closely with the wider business development and client relationship teams to share internal opportunities.
  • Record and report on performance against set KPIs, such as monthly activity logs and an overview of warm leads.
  • Work closely with prospective clients to outline their legal services requirements and map out how Flint Bishop could offer a tailored service that delivers on their requirements.

You will:

  • Have at least one year of experience in a B2B business development or sales representative role, ideally within a professional services environment.
  • Have excellent communication skills that can be used effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Be able to demonstrate a successful track record of achieving set KPIs within a BD or sales role.
  • Show evidence of winning key clients within previous roles.
  • Have a high level of commercial awareness and be able to adapt this to the legal services sector.
  • Be self-motivated, well organised and able to multi-task and prioritise own workload.
