A very exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy and expanding Corporate & Finance team as a Paralegal at our offices on Bennett’s Hill in Birmingham.

Our Corporate & Finance team has a strong track record of advising on national transactions including a breadth of clients ranging from owner managed businesses to large overseas listed corporates.

This role presents an excellent and exciting opportunity for a conscientious, focused and innovative individual to develop their career as a corporate paralegal, whilst also helping to establish a strong West-Midlands practice within an ambitious team of likeminded colleagues.

As a Corporate Paralegal, you will assist fee-earners and work alongside support staff in our corporate teams. You will assist solicitors with a wide range of matters. You will provide an excellent, client-focused service at all times and a can-do attitude towards assisting members of the team.

This role reports directly to the Partner in the Birmingham offices but will also work closely with colleagues across both the Birmingham & Derby offices.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Assist fee-earners at all levels on a wide range of corporate matters, with a focus on transactional work.
  • Assist with the projects set by the partner, including the oversight of reporting in from other departments working on corporate projects, analysis and reporting of due diligence information, disclosure, including management of online data-rooms, preparation, and negotiation of key deal documents.
  • Demonstrate a meticulous approach with great attention to detail.
  • Take or transcribe notes for calls, online virtual meetings or face to face meetings as required.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries.
  • Attend meetings with other fee earners and prepare notes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, often to tight deadlines and be able to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, clients and other departments within the firm.
  • Identify and develop efficiencies and processes to enhance the client experience and working practices.
  • Work actively within your department to create a good working atmosphere and to provide a first-class service to all fee earners and clients within the agreed SLA.

You will:

  • Have a minimum of a 2:1 legal degree.
  • Have a minimum of 6 months’ experience of working within a paralegal role.
  • Ideally have experience undertaking due diligence, reviewing, drafting, and amending corporate documents and undertaking disclosure exercises.
  • Be a highly motivated individual with the ability to work cohesively as part of a larger team.
  • Be commercially astute.
  • Possess excellent client care and communication skills.
  • Have a sound knowledge of IT systems and processes.

Disclosure will be required in the event that a position is offered.

The successful candidate will be required to attend an induction and a period of training at the firm’s Derby office.
