As a top 200 leading law firm with significant expansion plans for 2022 and beyond, we are excited to announce a newly created HR Manager opportunity in our busy Human Resources department, as we continue to grow the number of employees across our East and West Midlands markets.

The Human Resources Manager will assist the Head of HR in all aspects of the employee journey with Flint Bishop. This position will play an integral role in areas such as learning and development, HR systems and processes and employee relations.

This is an exciting, newly created role which will allow the successful candidate to be involved in day-to-day HR Management, as well as taking on key firm-wide projects.

Reporting directly to the Head of HR, this role also works alongside an HR Officer and the internal recruitment team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trial and onboard a new HR system for the firm. This involves mapping the market for suitable products, attending demonstration meetings, presenting recommendations to the Head of HR and CEO, and onboarding/updating the system once purchased.
  • Prepare daily attendance records, ensuring any areas of concern are raised with the Head of HR.
  • Conduct face-to-face return to work meetings for all sickness absences. Monitor any sickness trends and flag with the Head of HR where required.
  • Prepare monthly HR scorecard alongside the Talent Acquisition Manager.
  • Administer all exit interviews and prepare monthly figures based on results. Present findings to the Head of HR and wider board on a quarterly basis. Attend follow up meetings with leavers where appropriate.
  • Work alongside the Compliance Manager to identify any compliance training requirements across the firm. Allocate further training courses to address knowledge gaps.
  • Work alongside the Head of HR to submit key information to the SRA on an annual basis. This includes diversity data and CPD records for qualified solicitors.
  • Work alongside the Head of HR to obtain the Investors in People Gold or Platinum award. Assessments occur every 3 years; annual programme should be implemented to ensure continuous improvement in line with the desired standard.
  • Design and send regular pulse surveys. Prepare results presentation to be delivered to the Head of HR and CEO. Attend follow up action meetings with individual HODs.
  • Spot check employee files regularly including starter and leaver checklists. Report any findings to the HR Officer.
  • Design all new starter induction plans with the Head of HR. Attend introduction meetings as required.
  • Assist the Head of HR and Head of Marketing in designing new induction training for all new starters. Present as required.
  • Assist the Head of HR with the annual PDP process. This includes designing PDP forms, ensuring proper completion and scheduling one to one meetings across the firm. Ensure any agreed actions are followed up within each department.
  • Attend Social Committee and CSR Group meetings as HR representative.
  • Conduct ad hoc market mapping exercises as required. This includes competitor analysis for salaries and wider benefits. Present findings to the Head of HR and CEO.
  • Attend maternity and paternity meetings as required. Conduct risk assessments and ensure keeping in touch checkpoints throughout absence.
  • Take ownership of the apprenticeship levy on behalf of the firm. Make recommendations on the use of the levy to present to the Head of HR and CEO.
  • Assist with all other general HR duties as required by the Head of HR.

You will:

  • Have at least 12 months of experience in an HR Officer or HR Manager role.
  • Be able to evidence project management in areas such as learning and development and employee relations.
  • Be an adept problem solver.
  • Be an excellent communicator, able to handle crucial conversations at all levels within a business.
  • Ideally have HR experience within the professional services sector.
