This is a great opportunity for a Paralegal with wills and probate/private client experience to join a close-knit team working alongside an experienced solicitor on high quality work. You will be joining a highly regarded private client team that prides itself on the high level of service that it provides to each and every client.

You will assist solicitors and fee earners with a wide range of whilst also supporting on more complex matters with senior members of the team. Responsible for liaising directly with clients and ensuring a high level of client care is provided at all times.

You will provide an excellent, client-focused service at all times and a can do attitude towards assisting members of the team.

The role is full time, based at our Derby head office, reporting to the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform legal research
  • Manage key departmental projects set by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts
  • Assisting with the preparation of Wills for high net worth clients
  • Assisting with the preparation lasting power of attorney’s for clients alongside the relevant fee earner or solicitor
  • Collecting financial information for probate applications
  • Liaising with solicitors regarding probate applications
  • Collecting or transferring of assets to the beneficiaries
  • Assisting the Head of Department and solicitors with caseload
  • Applying for Grant of Probate
  • Obtaining information from financial institutions
  • Preparing and verifying schedule of assets
  • Liaising with beneficiaries
  • Preparing documentation for HM Revenue and Customs
  • Opening and setting up new cases on the system
  • Processing urgent post, filing non-urgent post, and logging correspondence onto the system

You will:

  • Have a minimum of a 2:1 legal degree
  • Have some existing experience within a Wills & probate department
  • Possess excellent client care and communication skills
  • Be a hard-working and highly motivated individual with the ability to work cohesively as part of a larger team
