Helen Spalding is a highly experienced Costs Solicitor, within our Insurance Litigation Costs team.

She predominantly manages complex and high-value costs matters, specialising in clinical negligence and civil claims, whilst working closely with colleagues across the Insurance Litigation and Claimant costs teams to deliver exceptional client service, draft detailed bills of costs, negotiate settlements, and oversee budgets and discussion reports.

Helen is also passionate about professional development and training, regularly delivering sessions to colleagues and clients. Her expertise in business development and client relationship management ensures she plays an active role in growing Flint Bishop’s Claimant costs services and strengthening our market presence.

Helen brings over 20 years of specialist experience in costs law, having held senior roles at Paramount Legal Costs, Clarion Solicitors, and Plexus Law.

Throughout her career, she has managed full caseloads of high-value and complex paying and receiving party matters, including cost-managed and litigated claims with extensive experience in drafting clinical negligence bills, negotiating settlements, preparing budgets, and attending case management conferences. Helen has also led internal and external training programs, contributed to business development initiatives, and actively managed client relationships.

Her career began as a Law Costs Draftsperson, progressing to solicitor roles where she consistently combined technical expertise with strong client service, team leadership, and knowledge-sharing.

Helen’s broad experience and dedication to excellence make her a valuable addition to Flint Bishop’s Costs team.
