Joanna McBride is an experienced litigator in our Counter Fraud team who handles a varied caseload of motor fraud matters consisting of fast track and multi-track claims.

Prior to joining Flint Bishop, Joanna also gained expertise in dealing with casualty fraud and large loss claims with both a domestic and international focus.

Joanna uses her strong technical knowledge and analytical skills to achieve the best results for her clients. In addition, she delivers bespoke training for her clients, including attending case clinics when required.

Joanna has secured many notable successes acting on behalf of multi-national insurer clients based within the UK.

A particular work highlight with the fraud arena includes defending a significant “crash for cash” claim on behalf of a large insurer, saving the client approximately half a million pounds. The accident involved a bus colliding with the rear of a Mercedes vehicle on “Curry Mile” in Manchester, resulting in over 30 claims for personal injury being made by the bus passengers. Following extensive investigation into the claims, and the involvement of IFED (Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department), it transpired that the bus inspector had arranged the collision between the two vehicles. The bus inspector and the driver of the Mercedes admitted to conspiring to defraud the insurer. The bus inspector was sentenced to 16 months in prison, and the Mercedes driver was given a 12-month prison term suspended for two years and ordered to carry out 250 hours’ unpaid work.

Joanna completed her Law degree and Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University and qualified as a solicitor in 2008.
