Joanne Derbyshire is a Solicitor in our Debt Recovery team, specialising in managing defended and complex commercial debt matters.

She provides strategic, client-focused advice and supports clients through every stage of the debt recovery process, from pre-action and negotiation to litigation and enforcement. Joanne is known for her clear, pragmatic approach, her ability to build trusted client relationships, and her attention to detail in both legal documentation and case strategy.

She plays a key role in strengthening our multi-award-winning Debt Recovery division, ensuring that clients receive efficient, commercially minded advice and solutions.

Joanne brings extensive commercial litigation experience, having managed a caseload of over one hundred defended and complex matters.

She has prepared and reviewed court documentation, including pleadings, witness statements, bundles, and instructions to counsel, and has negotiated with defendants to narrow issues and achieve swift, practical resolutions. She has also been instrumental in supporting and developing key client accounts, providing regular strategic advice, conducting training sessions, and advising on case strategy to ensure clients’ objectives are met.

Prior to her current role, Joanne trained and qualified at Rothera Bray Solicitors, where she progressed from trainee to qualified solicitor, gaining experience across residential conveyancing and litigation matters. Her early career included exposure to paralegal, legal assistant, and trainee solicitor roles, which helped her develop strong procedural knowledge, organisational skills, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues across departments. Joanne combines her extensive litigation experience with exceptional client care, making her a valuable asset to the Debt Recovery team.
