Monica Guram is a Solicitor in our Commercial Dispute Resolution (CDR) team, based in our Derby office.

She joined Flint Bishop in 2026 and advises on a broad range of commercial, property and contentious probate disputes for individuals and businesses.

Monica plays an active role in managing disputed matters from early advice through to litigation, working closely with colleagues across the CDR team to deliver clear, practical solutions. She is known for her calm and methodical approach, taking the time to understand what matters most to clients and providing straightforward advice in what are often complex or sensitive situations.

Clients value her professionalism, attention to detail and ability to progress matters efficiently while remaining approachable and supportive throughout the process.

Monica brings a wide breadth of litigation experience gained across several well-established regional and national law firms.

Before joining Flint Bishop, she was an Associate Solicitor in the Litigation Department at BWS Law, where she handled a varied caseload of property, commercial and contentious probate matters and regularly attended court as the sole fee earner within the department. This role allowed her to further develop her advocacy, case management and strategic decision-making skills.

Her property dispute experience includes advising on landlord and tenant matters, possession claims, breaches of lease covenants, boundary disputes, easements and rights of way, dilapidations, service charge disputes and contested commercial lease renewals. In commercial litigation, Monica has acted on debt recovery claims, negotiated settlement agreements and advised on professional negligence and breach of contract disputes, supporting a range of commercial clients on claims of significant value.

Monica also has substantial experience in contentious probate, having acted on will challenges, Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act claims, executor disputes and TOLATA claims. Her work has included matters involving alleged misappropriation of estate funds and high-value estate disputes, many of which have been successfully resolved through negotiation or mediation without the need for contested hearings.

Earlier in her career, Monica practised as a Solicitor at Wilson Browne Solicitors, where she focused on contentious probate matters and supported senior fee earners on complex claims through to trial, achieving favourable outcomes for clients in high-value estate disputes. She trained at Nelsons Solicitors, completing a two-year seat in private litigation and gaining experience across contentious probate, data protection disputes, bankruptcy and Pensions Regulator matters, including work on multi-million-pound estates and highly complex family and commercial litigation.

Alongside her fee-earning work, Monica has been actively involved in the legal community, serving on committees for the Derby and District Law Society and the Derby Junior Lawyers Division, where she was shortlisted for Trainee of the Year. Her breadth of experience, strong technical ability and practical mindset make her a valuable addition to Flint Bishop’s Commercial Dispute Resolution team.
