Introducing Valerija

Valerija Dmitrijeva is a Trainee Solicitor in our Debt Services department, currently sitting within the Defended Litigation team.

Having progressed through a number of roles since joining the firm in 2024, Valerija has developed a strong understanding of debt recovery and litigation processes. Her experience spans everything from initial collections activity through to complex defended matters, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the challenges faced by clients and the most effective strategies for achieving their objectives.

With a particular focus on residential defences for energy and utility clients, Valerija is responsible for reviewing claims, assessing litigation risks and providing practical recommendations on the most appropriate course of action. She is recognised for her analytical approach, attention to detail and ability to navigate complex legal issues with confidence and commercial awareness.

Valerija's experience

Valerija joined Flint Bishop in January 2024 and has developed her career within the firm’s Debt Services department.

Beginning as a Collections Advisor within the Initial Contact Team, she quickly developed her knowledge of the debt recovery process before progressing into fee-earning roles as a Legal Assistant and subsequently a Paralegal. During this time, she managed her own caseload, attended client meetings and supported colleagues by sharing knowledge and delivering training sessions on more complex areas of work.

She has also gained experience within the Issuing Commercial team, where her responsibilities included conducting prospect assessments for clients, issuing claims and reviewing enforcement options.

Currently undertaking her Training Contract, Valerija is part of the Defended Litigation team, where she primarily reviews residential defences for utility clients and provides recommendations on the most appropriate course of action. Her work also involves managing court deadlines, drafting applications and attending mediations.

Valerija graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a First-Class Law degree before completing both her Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Master of Laws (LLM) at BPP University. Her broad experience across debt recovery and litigation enables her to provide practical, commercially focused support to clients operating within the energy and utilities sector.
