Flint Bishop advises Brisant Secure on acquiring Deseo Locking Systems, boosting Brisant’s security tech and growth potential in the hardware sector.
11 January 2024
Deal
Flint Bishop’s Corporate team, led by Martyn Brierley, Head of Corporate & Finance, advised Brisant Secure on its acquisition of Deseo Locking Systems Limited, securing its business and intellectual property. This deal, backed by the British Growth Fund (BGF), marks Brisant Secure’s first acquisition for an undisclosed sum.
Deseo Locking Systems, based in Braintree, is known for its pioneering security patents. Its proprietary technology includes the UK and European patented Automatic Lock Protection System (ALPS) embedded within the ALPS cylinder—now a key addition to Brisant’s expanding portfolio of security solutions.
The acquisition is also a pivotal moment for Deseo, as founders Marcus and Mark O’Sullivan join Brisant Secure, with Mark O’Sullivan appointed to Brisant’s board as Deseo Director.
Nick Dutton, CEO of Brisant Secure, said: “We’re thrilled with our first acquisition and excited to welcome Mark and Marcus, both successful innovators. Following the growth of our award-winning smart security range—including Ultion Nuki, Ultion Bolt, and our new Ultion window handle range—this acquisition is a major step towards future-proofing home security. It also signifies a new era for Brisant as a hardware house.”
Mark O’Sullivan shared his optimism for the partnership, commenting, “Deseo Locking Systems couldn’t have found a better home, bringing together two strong, innovative cultures. Brisant will be an active partner with the resources and the mindset to help us develop Deseo products and realise the full potential of Deseo and Brisant Secure. In my new role as Deseo Director, the opportunities for synergy and growth are particularly exciting.”
Martyn Brierley, supported by Mark Wilcock, commented, “We’re delighted to have supported Brisant on this strategic acquisition and look forward to seeing the combined businesses strengthen and grow.”
This acquisition positions Brisant Secure for growth in the security hardware sector, enhancing its product range and opening new avenues for innovation within the industry.
