With the law on workplace harassment changing from 30th October 2026, employers will need to be able to demonstrate that they have taken all reasonable steps to prevent third-party harassment of their employees in the course of their employment.
This course has been developed to help organisations raise awareness of third-party harassment across their workforce and support them in taking appropriate preventative steps. Two versions are available, with tailored training for managers and for all employees, ensuring learning is relevant to individuals’ different roles and responsibilities.
By the end of this training, learners will be able to:
Understand what third-party harassment is, including who may be considered a third party and how inappropriate conduct can arise in different workplace situations.
Recognise examples of third-party harassment, including unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic by customers, clients, contractors, service users and other external individuals.
Understand that inappropriate behaviour should not be tolerated, regardless of whether it comes from a colleague or someone outside the organisation.
Know how to respond to third-party harassment, including how to raise concerns and report an incident through the appropriate channels.
Understand the role everyone can play in preventing harassment by recognising inappropriate behaviour, raising concerns and helping to support a respectful and safe working environment.
