Catherine Marksman manages a varied caseload of contentious matters including contractual disputes, forfeiture, contested probate and neighbour disputes, with a particular specialism in litigated debt recovery.

She has a great understanding of her clients’ needs and objectives and provides clear commercial advice.

Often attending trials and negotiating settlements, Catherine has a proven track record of recoveries and finalising matters for her clients.

Catherine’s commercial litigation experience involves several high-profile cases involving large, complex contractual disputes, from handling disclosure on a matter with in excess of 18,000 documents to assisting on a large-scale litigated case involving a government department.

She has also advised on high-value disputes around novation of contract by conduct, waiver by estoppel and forbearance and dealing with allegations such as fraudulent misrepresentation in contractual negotiations and restitution.

Catherine is the first port of call in the firm’s relationship with a large global publishing organisation for any contractual disputes and debt recovery issues. She has received praise from this client for her efficient and effective way of recovering money that many believed was unrecoverable.

Catherine’s legal career has been developed from within the firm, completing her training contract and subsequently becoming a qualified solicitor whilst being employed by us. She completed her law undergraduate degree at the University of Nottingham and her Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.
