Philip Thompson is a Senior Associate in our Insurance Litigation department. He qualified as a solicitor in 2009.

Based in our Birmingham office, Phil advises insurers and self-insured businesses on claims involving serious injury, particularly those involving life-changing injuries. He is experienced in handling claims involving head injury, spinal injury, and chronic pain, and is particularly adept in identifying exaggerated or bogus claims.

Adept at achieving claim reductions or withdrawals, Phil takes a legally accurate and commercially viable approach to disputing liability issues, minimising risk and expense for our clients.

Phil has had a number of recent successes through his deployment of social media evidence, settling claims for a fraction of their pleaded value and securing enforceable costs orders. As a result of this run of successes, Phil is the “go-to” for his clients and colleagues where an ostensibly large loss case is felt not to be as claimed.

As you would expect, Phil allies his instinctive approach to cases to an enviable knowledge of indemnity and the Civil Procedure Rules, to ensure that a robust position can be adopted with a high likelihood of an optimal outcome for his client.

Phil has delivered practical-based training on a range of topics related to large loss work, and is always on hand to assist clients with general queries.

Phil is also a member of the Forum of Insurer Lawyers.
