If you find illegal drugs or weapons on your premises, you may be obliged to report this to the authorities in order to fulfil the objectives of the Licensing Act 2003.

The Licensing Act 2003 sets the goals of preventing crime and disorder and maintaining public safety.

In situations where illegal drugs or weapons are found, it is useful to keep a log of the circumstances, rather than have to rely on memory when asked for information by the authorities.

The details you may wish to log include:

  • Date and time
  • The specific item(s) found
  • The location within the premises where it was found
  • What action was taken
  • Who logged the incident
  • Whether the police were called, and the outcome of the call
  • Any further relevant details
