Michael Buchanan is a Leeds-based Partner working in our Dispute Resolution Department.

He provides strategic, practical, and commercially focused advice to clients facing complex commercial and contractual disputes. Michael is known for his approachable, solution-oriented style, helping clients navigate challenges efficiently and achieve their objectives while minimising risk.

He also supports early and growth-stage companies with intellectual property, commercial contracts, employment arrangements, and dispute resolution.

Michael joined Flint Bishop in September 2025, having previously worked at Lupton Fawcett for almost 20 years.

He originally qualified and practised as a solicitor in Melbourne, Australia. Michael has extensive experience advising individuals and local, national, and international companies across a wide range of industries. His expertise covers consumer disputes, sales and supply of goods, share purchase agreements, professional negligence, defamation, employment restrictive covenants, gambling-related harm, and insolvency-related litigation.

He is highly skilled at understanding the commercial objectives behind each dispute, providing tailored, strategic solutions to achieve the best possible outcomes.
