Catastrophic loss and complex injury claims typically involve cases of the utmost severity including brain damage, spinal injury, amputations and fatalities.

Complex and catastrophic injury
Due to the high value and often sensitive and complex nature of these large loss cases, we have our own dedicated team of experienced senior solicitors who work closely with you from the outset.
To enable us to be able to provide efficient and cost-effective advice, we sub-categorise severe cases as large loss (valued between £100,001 and £250,000) or catastrophic injury (valued above £250,001).
We provide you with expert advice throughout the whole process, from the intervention and the overseeing of treatment, to rehabilitation needs and costings, which will reduce, as far as possible, any future loss exposure.
The ‘Know Your Opponent’ (KYO) data that we capture keeps you up-to-date with emerging challenges and trends, enabling you to develop targeted initiatives against specific claimant solicitors to reduce your indemnity spend.
We fully appreciate the damage that possible adverse publicity can cause when handling claims with very significant potential values, so each case is handled according to a bespoke strategy to protect your company’s position and reputation.
Complex and catastrophic injury
Our catastrophic loss and complex injury experts specialise in defending insured and self-insured clients, which includes several international companies in the motor sector.
Many of our insurance litigation solicitors also have substantial experience in successfully resolving disputes between insurers which have been referred to the Motor Insurers’ Bureau Technical Committee.
We regularly handle claims with high-value reserves, often in excess of £1m. In addition, we frequently represent international insurer and self-insured clients in implementing multi-million-pound reserves, generally exceeding £10m, for catastrophic injury and large loss claims, which are also often their most sensitive matters.
