We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Jefferies who has joined the firm as a Partner in our Commercial Dispute Resolution department.

With over 30 years of legal expertise and a remarkable track record, Jon’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the team and the wider firm. Previously holding the position of Managing Partner and Practice Head for the Commercial Litigation team at national law firm Freeths’ Derby office, he played a pivotal role in overseeing complex commercial litigation, employment, and insolvency cases, representing a wide range of high-value commercial clients including corporate entities, manufacturers, and landowners.

Jon is well-versed in advising on director fiduciary duties disputes, SPA disputes, partnership disputes (1890 Act and LLP), and shareholder disputes. His proficiency also extends to property-related cases, including boundary disputes, rights of way disputes, easement disputes, disputes in relation to rights of light, and minerals ownership.

One of Jon’s key accomplishments was his pivotal role in advising on a multi-million-pound shareholder dispute involving a group of private companies. This hard-fought case spanned 18 months, culminating in substantial success for his clients.

Other notable work highlights include acting for Ibstock Brick Limited in the Court of Appeal in a landmark case establishing mineral rights and advising a major manufacturer in connection with a dispute arising out of alleged breaches of a contract to be undertaken in the Yemen.

Jon is consistently recognised as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by The Legal 500, which in addition to his extensive experience as a partner at a national law firm, reflects our commitment to securing top-tier talent and reinforces our position as a leading force within the industry.

Chief Executive Qamer Ghafoor said:

“I am confident that Jon’s arrival will be a tremendous asset to our team and our clients. His appointment is a strategic move that will considerably reinforce what is already a strong commercial litigation team with an impressive presence in the sector. We are excited about the contributions he will make and the positive impact he will have on our firm.”
