The Lawyer Awards is the leading awards initiative within the legal calendar and is unquestionably the biggest night of the year for the legal profession. Bringing together over 1,300 private practice lawyers and senior corporate counsel, the awards recognise best practice and celebrate excellence across the whole industry.

The ceremony will take place in London on 26 June, and will see Flint Bishop up against other large law firms in this category including ASB Law, BPE Solicitors, Memery Crystal, Nelsons Solicitors, Paris Smith, Wiggin and Wright Hassall.

This success follows the announcement of Qamer Ghafoor as Chief Executive, having acted as Managing Partner for Commercial Services for the previous three years, supported by a new Management Board to advance the firm’s ambitious growth plans.

Qamer has been instrumental in developing strategies, resulting in unrivalled business performance and substantial growth in revenue and profits in a number of departments. The firm has achieved an 11% increase in turnover during the 2017/18 financial year. Net profit also increased by 15%.

The Commercial Litigation, Insurance Litigation and Debt Recovery Departments are all on track to increase income this financial year by over 30%, from £4.5m to nearly £6m. The Insurance Litigation team alone has increased its income by 39% on year-to-date figures.

Qamer stated:

“Flint Bishop has performed superbly in the last financial year, both financially and in terms of client wins and client service. This success has resulted in Flint Bishop making the prestigious shortlist at The Lawyer Awards, which is fantastic for the firm. My ambitious plans for the firm mean that it is an exciting time for everyone at Flint Bishop.”
