Anthony Carrington, Paul Large and Jonathan Cox all join us from international law firm, DAC Beachcroft, increasing the total headcount of our Insurance Litigation team to 36.
Anthony joins us as Partner and Head of Fraud. He has over 10 years of experience advising several of the UK’s largest general and motor insurers on counter-fraud strategies and bespoke fraud strategies on large scale organised fraud.
His previous roles have included head of organised fraud, acting for over 13 different insurer clients, as well as managing a client team with over 40 lawyers and revenue in excess of £4m.
One of his most notable work highlights involved a fraud operation consisting of over 50 claims for injury and other losses with the reserve of claims repudiated totalled over £1.5m. The operation was referred to City of London’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department and the key nominal was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison. The operation formed the basis of a winning Insurance Time Award submission for Claims Partner of the Year.
In addition, Anthony has liaised with the press on a number of cases on behalf of clients and has himself appeared on two episodes of the BBC’s Claimed and Shamed.
Paul, who joins us as an Associate, is an expert in counter fraud and in particular, fraud tactics in organised motor fraud. He has over 10 years of experience defending organised fraud motor claims and handling operations and fraud rings consisting of in excess of 100 claims.
He has personally handled and supervised numerous operations with varying levels of complexity and with involvement from third parties such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Insurance Fraud Bureau, Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department, local Police, and MedCo.
Jonathan completes the trio of appointments and will join Flint Bishop as a specialist insurance litigation solicitor with a particular focus within the counter fraud arena. Acting on behalf of insurers based within the UK and across the EU, his expertise is in defending motor and casualty fraud matters.
He has acted on a cross-spectrum of fraudulent actions ranging from suspected exaggeration to complex multi-claimant fraud rings and has achieved significant savings using technical arguments, and findings of fundamental dishonesty following the deployment of bespoke fraud based strategies.
Chief executive, Qamer Ghafoor, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Anthony, Paul, and Jonathan to our Insurance Litigation team.
“These new appointments represent key hires for the firm that will greatly enhance our offering and overall presence in the defendant personal injury marketplace, especially in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region.
“On behalf of the firm, I wish them every success in their new roles.”
