Almost £5,000 went to Macmillan Cancer Support, raised through coffee mornings and free wills donations. The charity provides practical, medical and financial support for people suffering from cancer and pushes for better cancer care.
A further £3,600 was raised for Derby charity Sporting Futures at its annual Corporate Cup Golf Tournament, which we promoted and organised.
The monies raised for Sporting Futures are going towards helping young people from some of the most disadvantaged areas of Derbyshire improve their futures through regular sporting and community activities.
A daring 3,000 ft skydive by one of our employees, Tony Yeoman, along with a host of other fundraising initiatives, also raised over £1,300 for Nottingham-based charity When You Wish Upon A Star. The money raised is going to help the charity to take a terminally ill child to Lapland.
Employees also raised over £300.00 for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day. In the UK, funds raised for this charity go towards sheltering the young homeless and victims of domestic abuse; in Africa, the money helps provide fresh water and prevent disease.
A spokesperson for the firm says:
“Fundraising for important local and national charities is a key element of our corporate social responsibility programme. Not only do these kinds of activities help our local communities by putting something back, they also boost staff morale and cohesion and tap into our employees’ huge enthusiasm for helping those in need. We are already planning the 2014 Sporting Futures Corporate Cup Golf Tournament and our Social Committee is planning many more fundraising activities for the year ahead. So we are hoping that we will be able to raise even more in 2014.”
