Flint Bishop has made a decisive statement in the Northern legal market with the appointment of six experienced lawyers, including three senior partners, significantly strengthening its presence across Yorkshire and reinforcing its ambitious growth strategy throughout the North of England.
The strategic appointment of Richard Smith joins as Partner, Head of Commercial Property (North), and Sheffield Office Lead. With more than 25 years of experience and a strong reputation across the Yorkshire property market, Richard will lead a 13-strong Commercial Property team spanning Sheffield, Leeds and York. His arrival substantially enhances the firm’s capability in development, investment, asset management and regeneration work across the region.
Richard brings extensive expertise advising regional and national clients on complex commercial and residential development projects, property finance transactions and major regeneration schemes, further strengthening Flint Bishop’s position in one of the UK’s most competitive legal markets.
Joining Richard is Craig Law, who arrives as Partner in the Commercial Property team. With more than two decades of experience, Craig is recognised for advising landowners, developers and investors on strategic land acquisitions, funding structures and major development projects. His expertise across the leisure, hospitality and roadside retail sectors adds further depth to Flint Bishop’s rapidly expanding real estate offering.
In a significant boost to the firm’s Corporate team, Paul Trudgill joins as Partner in Sheffield. Bringing more than 30 years of transactional experience, Paul has advised entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, investors and larger corporates on high-value mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital and employee ownership trust transactions. His track record includes deals exceeding £120 million in value.
The firm has also strengthened its Commercial Property capability through the appointments of Thomas Roberts, Hollie Scholey as Senior Associates and Charlie John as an Associate, adding further expertise across development, investment, asset management and transactional real estate matters.
Qamer Ghafoor, Chief Executive of Flint Bishop, said:
“These appointments are a powerful endorsement of Flint Bishop’s reputation, ambition and momentum. Attracting lawyers of this calibre demonstrates the strength of our platform and our commitment to building one of the UK’s most dynamic and forward-thinking law firms.
Richard, Paul and Craig each bring exceptional leadership, market presence and technical expertise. Combined with the addition of Tom, Hollie and Charlie, they significantly strengthen our capability across key practice areas and enhance the service we provide to clients nationwide.
The launch of our Sheffield office marked an exciting new chapter in our Northern growth strategy. These appointments accelerate that journey and underline our determination to invest in the very best talent, expand our regional footprint and continue delivering outstanding results for our clients.”
These latest additions form part of Flint Bishop’s wider national growth programme, which includes further strategic acquisitions of other law firms as the firm continues to invest heavily in talent, infrastructure and client service capabilities.
