Nigel Partridge runs a multi-track caseload of high-value motor, casualty and property claims with a specific focus on catastrophic loss claims for insurer clients.

He proactively conducts liability-disputed, complex and high-value claims, including those of utmost severity such as catastrophic, spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries; chronic pain; and psychiatric disorder claims. In addition, Nigel also routinely handles cases with reserves in excess of £1m.

As well as his dynamism and versatility, his considerable technical expertise means that he is praised for his training skills and imparting his legal know-how across areas of litigation well beyond his core specialism, affording him a broader strategic perspective.

Nigel actively listens to his clients, colleagues and employers, and then works tirelessly to achieve the optimum outcome for all involved, adopting a collaborative approach wherever possible.

The Legal 500 UK comments:

“The team works together very well. Nigel will suggest the team member with the necessary skills and expertise to handle the claim, but always allows us the opportunity to decide. Whoever works on a case always provides very detailed advice, with clear options and suggestions.”

Nigel’s in-depth knowledge of the motor insurance sector and reputation as a highly technical and effective insurance litigator make him a sought after and trusted ‘heavyweight’ in this legal arena.

He has amassed significant insurance litigation experience during his career in private practice, having already held partnership roles at major defendant insurer firms for over a decade. This includes being responsible for knowledge sharing and client training, while still maintaining his own caseload of large loss and cross-jurisdictional matters.

Nigel has also co-run and mentored a department of 120 defendant lawyers across multiple sites, many of whom handled technically complex high-value cases.

He has successfully litigated novel and ground-breaking cases that have passed through the Court of Appeal, equipping him with a unique understanding of his clients’ needs and the resources required to provide innovative and effective strategic solutions to substantial claims valued in excess of £5m.

Nigel also specialises in acting for globally-recognised insurers, including as sole UK panel solicitor for a Baltic-based insurer with an operation spanning Europe. He has also spoken at national conferences on a variety of key topics.
