From the outset, we will work with your school to ensure that you have a timeline for your academy conversion and that you are clear about the steps that will need to be taken to reach academy status.

This can include representation at key internal meetings so that the advice we give to your school is accessible to all the key decision-makers involved throughout the process.

We will take full instructions from you and ensure that the interests of your school are recognised and at the forefront of the negotiation process. We will advise and make recommendations on all of the key documents which underpin the academy conversion process, for example, the funding agreement with the Department for Education (DfE), the commercial transfer agreement with the relevant local authority and any property registration matters with the Land Registry.

We will also help your school to inform and consult with staff and trade union representatives regarding the academy conversion. This may also include HR support during consultation meetings and the production of Q&A documents to outline and address key concerns for your employees.

We have supported a wide range of educational establishments with a variety of academy and school projects and have in-depth knowledge and understanding of bringing together groups of schools including primary, secondary, special, faith, secular, single schools and federations in a range of academy trusts.

Our specialist Education team has extensive experience of working on multi-academy projects throughout England and Wales including the creation of multi-academy trusts (MATs), academies joining existing MATs, creative collaborative arrangements for mixed category MATs (both faith and non-faith academies), single and multi-phase groups and diocesan group projects.

We have also developed excellent relationships with the Department for Education (DfE), the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and local authorities, enabling us to access project leads and decision-makers quickly to ensure that the academy conversion process flows smoothly.
