Ben’s expertise includes taking development sites from initial promotion to acquisition and financing, through to lettings and ultimate investment disposal.

He has particular experience in retail and residential developments and acting for investors in purchasing and selling commercial property.

Ben has acted for several regional and national residential developers, retail and other commercial developers, family wealth investment companies, and a number of agricultural landowners dealing with the potential development of their land.

Notable work highlights include:

  • Overseeing a mixed-use development for a property developer comprising a new town centre near Exeter, including acquisition within an existing development site from a residential developer consortium, pre-lets of retail units, golden brick agreements for residential units within a mixed-use building and forward funding development agreements, with an estimated gross development value (GDV) exceeding £15m.
  • Acquisition of a brownfield development site intended for remediation and development of industrial units conditional upon planning with pre-let agreements of a number of plots. (circa £10m development value).
  • Advising an investor client on the acquisition and forward funding of a major new drive-thru development in Middlesbrough including negotiating the proposed acquisition and development forward funding of three drive-thru units being let to national restaurant operators and an electric vehicle charging point operator (circa £4m development value).

He completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Hertfordshire and his Legal Practice Course at The College of Law, Guildford.
