We are pleased to announce that Catherine Marksman has been promoted to the position of Senior Associate & Debt Recovery Manager within the Debt Services department.

Since joining Flint Bishop as a paralegal in 2012 and commencing her training contract under the supervision of the Dispute Resolution team in 2016, Catherine has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication and support to the firm and her colleagues.

After qualification, she continued to handle complex litigated matters for several of the firm’s largest commercial clients, before moving to the Debt Services team. Here, Catherine assumed the role of Debt Recovery Manager in November 2019, before being further promoted to Associate in July 2021.

Catherine has been instrumental in the development and growth of the Debt Services department both in terms of headcount and revenue. She has been heavily involved in setting up SLAs, new work processes and team structures within the team. With each expansion of her team, Catherine has worked closely with our support functions to work on projects for efficient working, including scorecarding segments of debts, to maximise recoveries for several of the firm’s flagship clients.

Catherine’s hard work and outstanding performance have seen her receive notable recent recognition. In September 2022, Catherine won the title of ‘Woman of the Year’ at the Credit Strategy Women in Credit Awards which recognised her position as a role model for other women within the firm and the wider credit industry. Furthermore, Catherine has earned consistent recognition as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in The Legal 500 UK, the world’s leading legal directory, for the past three consecutive years.

Chief Executive Qamer Ghafoor commented: “Catherine is a true asset to the Debt Services team and the wider firm, and I would like to personally thank her for her hard work and ongoing commitment to Flint Bishop. I am very proud of Catherine, and it’s always nice to see how having a network of support and mentoring can help individuals progress their careers.”
