We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan White, who has joined the firm as Senior Risk & Compliance Lawyer in the Compliance department.

Jonathan brings with him a wealth of experience, with an impressive career spanning 25 years.

Jonathan began his career as a solicitor specialising in complex litigation, including several cases up to Court of Appeal level. He spent 11 years at Harvey Ingram LLP where he helped grow a successful and profitable department.

In 2010, Jonathan joined the National Accident Helpline as Head of Legal where he was responsible for managing all legal and regulatory issues faced by one the UK’s leading consumer marketing and legal services businesses. Other key responsibilities included negotiation and drafting all the group’s commercial contracts, often from initial meeting to contract execution, along with managing external legal suppliers and disputes.

In 2014, Jonathan was promoted to Legal & Compliance Director, the same year the company was publicly listed to form NAHL Group PLC. Jonathan was part of the project team responsible for executing the group’s strategy and AIM flotation. As a member of the Group executive reporting directly to the PLC board on all legal, risk and compliance issues, Jonathan played a critical role in managing the evolution of the group as it adapted to manage significant regulatory and market reform in the consumer legal services sector, where he also gained extensive experience in setting up three joint venture law firms.

During his tenure at NAHL Group PLC, Jonathan has held a wide range of formal compliance roles including FCA Senior Manager (Compliance oversight function), Data Protection Officer, Director and Head of Legal Practice (HOLP) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) at the group’s wholly owned law firm, National Accident Law.

As a former member of the government’s Insurance Fraud Taskforce and FCA’s regulatory advisory group on claims management, Jonathan is a well-known figure in the industry whose opinion is regularly sought after by the national press. He has campaigned on a range of legal issues, particularly in support of victims of personal injury and was heavily involved in establishing ACSO, the Association of Consumer Support Organisations, an organisation which represents the interests of consumer rights in the civil justice system.

Joining Flint Bishop as Senior Risk & Compliance Lawyer, Jonathan will work very closely with Chief Executive Qamer Ghafoor and Head of Compliance Becky Barham in providing crucial support in all matters across the firm relating to risk and compliance.

On Jonathan’s appointment, Chief Executive Qamer Ghafoor commented: “To have someone with Jonathan’s stature, prestige, and considerable experience is of immeasurable value to the firm, and is representative of our ambitious growth plans, as well as being testament to how those plans have materialised to date.”
