After an exceptionally busy and successful year, Flint Bishop has made six key promotions across its Derby and Birmingham offices:

Andrew Stokes, Partner

Since joining the firm as a Senior Associate in July 2020, Andrew has played a fundamental role in establishing the Commercial Property department in Birmingham. He advises on all aspects of commercial property, with a particular focus on high-level real estate finance, corporate support and property investment.

Whilst continuing to manage key clients on high-level matters, Andrew also has a keen interest in business development and has been successful in generating substantial new work within the real estate finance, corporate support and property investment sectors. This well-deserved promotion will enable Andrew to focus on developing the presence of the Commercial Property team across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands area.

William Harper, Partner

Having joined the firm as a solicitor in 2015, William became Associate in 2017 and Senior Associate in 2019. As one of the most senior members of the Wills, Probate, Tax and Trusts department, he has impressed the leadership team in achieving “excellent billing and client care outcomes consistently year on year.”

Recommended by The Legal 500, Will advises on a wide range of high-level wills and probate matters, providing a service that results in receiving client testimonials such as:

“At a time when I was very much in need of professional support, I had the good fortune that my call was answered by William Harper, who was very responsive and provided everything I needed clearly and promptly.”

Moving forward, he will be providing leadership support to head of department Claire Rudkin, whilst continuing to build on servicing clients across Derbyshire.

Angela Davis, Senior Associate

With over 30 years post-qualification experience in family law, Angela is a well-established lawyer in all matters relating to divorce, finance and children.

As a long-standing member of Resolution and an accredited collaborative lawyer, she is an advocate for the alternative, face-to-face approach to resolving family disputes. She has also been recommended by The Legal 500 this year receiving high praise from clients including:

“A real strength and depth in her approach to cases which only comes after years of working within this field. A calm considered and determined solicitor.”

Angela also plays a key role in training and mentoring junior members of the Family & Matrimonial team.

George Domleo, Senior Associate

George joined the firm’s Licensing team as a solicitor in 2017 and was later promoted to associate in 2020 recognised for his achievements in securing new work from key clients for other areas of the firm.

His workload predominantly consists of applications for new premises licences, variations and reviews, in addition to advising on various aspects of betting and gaming law under the Gambling Act 2005. His clients include Heineken, East London Pub Co, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, Star Pubs & Bars and Kew Green Hotels.

Alongside his role as a specialist licensing solicitor, George regularly produces licensing law updates and insight articles for the department’s monthly newsletter and is responsible for maintaining and developing the department’s relationships with its key clients.

Sundeep Sandhu, Senior Associate

Sundeep joined Flint Bishop as a commercial dispute resolution solicitor in 2012 and was promoted to associate in 2016. She has recently taken the lead on the firm’s contentious probate services; an achievement which has been recognised by The Legal 500 UK this year.

Natalia Lloyd-Nash, Associate

Starting her career at Flint Bishop in 2014 as a legal assistant in the Commercial Dispute Resolution department, Natalie was quickly promoted to debt recovery manager the following year.

Over the last six years, she has worked with Chief Executive Qamer Ghafoor to achieve a 66% headcount growth in the department, managing volume business debt recovery requirements for several UK leading brands including Royal Mail, Costcutter and Autoglass.

Natalie’s passion and dedication to her work and the team has been recognised by The Legal 500 for the second year in a row, where she is once again listed as a ‘Rising Star’ for debt recovery.

Natalie is committed to supporting the development of the team members, and will continue to focus on the growth of the department as well as introducing new initiatives.

Qamer Ghafoor comments

“At Flint Bishop, I am extremely passionate about creating a platform for people to progress within the firm and take responsibility for projects and areas of work that really excite them. It is excellent to see staff achieve long term careers with the firm in line with the leadership team’s growth ambitions.

“The latest promotions are a result of the continued investment at our Birmingham and Derby offices as we roll out our strategic expansion plans for 2022 and beyond.

“I would like to congratulate all of the individuals on their well-deserved promotions and achievements. I wish them every success in their new roles.”
